51: 			There is strong evidence that interdisciplinary teamwork promotes
52: 			creativity, and produces high impact transformational research.  However,
53: 			collaborative efforts still have large communication and coordination costs
54: 			and remain challenging.  This paper explores some of the reasons behind the
55: 			costs and challenges of interdisciplinary collaborations.  It also offers
56: 			some guidelines for building successful collective efforts in creativeIT.
57: 			The guidelines are based on, and supported by, previous work, work at other
58: 			institutions and experiences from the building and everyday operation of the
59: 			Arts, Media and Engineering program at ASU.
